Entry Requirements – English and Academic

All Programs

Minimum entry levels are described below:

  • Entry from Year 11 or equivalent requires superior grades.
  • Forecast results are accepted where appropriate.
  • Consideration is given to the actual subjects studied. Depending on your preferred undergraduate program, a minimum grade in mathematics may also apply.
  • Entry to the Express Program may require higher academic grades than below. Eleven full years of schooling is also required.
  • We will only accept an application if the results indicate the student will have a good chance of passing the program.

Note: If the Medium of Instruction (MOI) is wholly or predominantly English for at least 2 years, then school results will be accepted as evidence of English Competency.

IES  English Pathway Program

Students who have not quite met the English requirements for IES Foundation Year can take advantage of the IES English Pathway Program (EPP). The program consists of either a ten- or twenty-week pre-foundation English course, depending on a student's current English proficiency.

All successful graduates are guaranteed entry into the IES Foundation Year Extended program.

Quota Programs

Entry into the quota programs Dental Science, Nursing & Midwifery, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Pathology and Veterinary Science are competitive. As such, entry requirements into IES Foundation Year for these programs are higher than other programs.
