Anasta came to Australia on a Government Scholarship Program and chose the IES Foundation Year because it meant she could pursue an economic degree with ease and it would encourage her to work hard. It was also shorter than A-levels course and would still get her into university. She comes from the city of Penang.
Anasta loved the small classes as it enabled the teachers to get to know the students and establish an excellent course plan. This combined with activities such as rock climbing, going to the beach and shopping made for a great place to study whilst still having some fun.
The IES Foundation Year helped Anasta build the skills and knowledge to be able to handle the lecture format used at university as referencing and assignment writing were not something that she was used to working with.
The campus allowed a flexible study format which meant Anasta was able to enjoy the Australia culture. Anasta says: " The people here are really friendly and the activities arranged by IES Foundation Year has helped to introduce the Aussie culture to me".
Following her time at the IES Foundation Year Anasta is considering studying Law and Economics at UQ.
