Story

IES Foundation Year is the best way to get to UQ for international students. By studying IES Foundation Year, I gained many valuable skills and knowledge to prepare for university life. The scholarship I received for studying here is also one of the reasons why I chose IES Foundation Year.

There are lot of activities, especially for Business Management students, such as the Talent Show and International Day. Each semester we get the opportunity to participate in sporting activities and in the semester breaks you can visit the nearby Moreton Bay islands.  Brisbane is a great place to live and study because it has a beautiful climate and a multicultural atmosphere. In addition, there are many great places to spend time with friends and the people here are very friendly.

The teachers are very supportive and helpful. It is very easy to ask a question and I always receive great advice from them. The subjects in IES Foundation Year are well structured and very interesting to study. They cover a wide range of knowledge as well as provide a balance between theories and practical lessons. I learned how to organise my time for studying and relaxing, how to work independently and how to research effectively and academically.

I also think living with a homestay family is a good experience for students who study abroad for the first time like me. Since Australia is a multicultural country, the best way to adapt to the culture is to make a lot of friends from different countries. In the future, I am going to study economics in UQ. During my years at university, I will look for opportunities to study higher in this area.
